The Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1 is the top-tier football league in Tunisia, organized by the Tunisian Football Federation in collaboration with the Ligue Nationale du Football Professionnel. The league has a rich and complex history, with its inaugural season taking place in 1907, during the French protectorate period.
On 29 March 1957, the Tunisian Football Federation was established as the official governing body for football in Tunisia. The league became professional in the 1994–95 season, coinciding with the creation of the Ligue Nationale du Football Professionnel, and adopted its current name.
In terms of continental competition, the top two teams in the league standings earn direct qualification for the CAF Champions League, while the third-placed team qualifies for the CAF Confederation Cup. Additionally, the Tunisian Football Federation selects clubs to participate in the Arab Club Champions Cup.
